Olachi Mezu-Ndubuisi, MD, OD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Ophthalmology with tenure at the University of Rochester, New York and the McPherson Eye Research Institute’s Retina Research Foundation Edwin and Dorothy Gamewell Professor.
Dr .Olachi Mezu-Ndubuisi is a neonatologist, licensed optometrist, and physician-scientist. She cares for fragile premature and critically ill infants, and supports their families during their most vulnerable times in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Dr. Mezu-Ndubuisi has established a unique research niche in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and the effects of oxidative stress on developing organs of the lungs, kidneys, gut, and brain using bench to bedside translational research. She is actively involved in global health and community health education, and training of health care professionals.
Dr. Mezu-Ndubuisi has over 22 academic research publications, including four book chapters. She is committed to an integrated career path of research, teaching, and service.
